The Lake
Heading down the home stretch…
Hello sportfans… And welcome to the blast here on Minnesota’s Lake of the Woods.
What’s the latest? Ice fishing action is good. Lake conditions are being reviewed daily.
Right now the guides are busy finishing our retreat from the northern haunts of Big Traverse Bay. We have pulled out of Garden / Bridges / Knight and moved the majority of the fleet closer to home.
Fishing in the mud has been good. Lots of action with the sauger and we are seeing an ample amount of walleyes in the mix. Which is nice.
The plan?
As mentioned in the headline we will be updating our report each day as we move toward the end of the month. Conditions will dictate our path toward the fish.
Lake conditions remain fishable… It is just a matter of re-routing traffic.
Right now the Bombardier trails on the Rainy River and our access point of Four-Mile Bay have been changed. As of this afternoon we are no longer running the river or the bay. Access is being taken directly from the main lakeshore.
This is a very normal and predictable move for the latter part of March. Something that we have done many times in the past.
The lake ice is still permissable for our guides to travel. As of today. But wear your golashes (boots) because there’s a bit of slush / water to deal with on top of the ice. Again normal for late March.
From the resort we will take our customers by coach, or have you drive your own vehicle to our lakeshore departure site. From there you will access the main lake and take the Bombardiers to the fishing locations.
More details and directions will be provided when you get here.
Again… This report will be updated daily.
For now we are still fishing. And we will continue to do so as the conditions allow.
That’s it for now.
Set the hook.
