Sportfans…  Welcome.  And better yet?  Get your gang together and get up to Lake of the Woods!

Our ice fishing season on the south shore has hit full gear and the fish are responding.

Yesterday we had two houses on the main lake that produced over 100 fish each.  True story…

Matter of fact, last night in the tavern, I asked them just how good it was…  The response?  “Drop your bait down and you’ve got a bite”.

How can this be?

Well…  It’s December…  And it’s “first ice”.

I think our success is based on a couple of things right now.  (1) there are not a ton up people up here fishing yet.  (2) we’ve got a bonus crop of saugers that we are dealing with.

Right now we are working with about 8 inches of ice.  We are transporting people to the lake with our ATV’s and small / heated utility trailers.

Our shacks are popping fish in 20 - 26 feet of water.  Again…  A good mix of walleye and sauger.  But noticably a real spike in the sauger bite.

As mentioned…  If you can clear your schedule…  Now would certainly be a good time to come up and fish.
