Making ice…

Hello sportsfans…  Another quick update from my Monday notes.

When will Ballard’s Resort start ice fishing?  That’s been the ringing line…

This morning (12/09/09) Nick ventured out to Four-Mile Bay to check ice conditions.  The report?  He found as much as 4 1/2 inches of ice between our private access point and Pine Island.  That’s as far as he went.  He did not go out on the main lake.  Not today anyway…

The plan?  I just spoke with Nick…  And his intention is to check Four-Mile Bay again tomorrow (12/10/09),  get our trail marked across the bay,  and then begin checking ice conditions on the main lake.

We do not plan to have fish houses on the lake by this weekend.  Our intention is to start fishing by MAYBE Monday.  And that is a day by day prediction.  By no means a definite.  We probably won’t be able to determine such a “yes or no” starting date until Saturday afternoon. 

I know it can sound a bit confusing…  But day by day updating is really the best we can do.

When we can get 10-12 inches of ice on the main lake.  We’ll be out there.  And until then…  I will keep you posted.
