The Lake

Odd or even…

Hello sportsfans.  And welcome to the weekly quack here on Minnesota’s Lake of the Woods.

Odd or even?  Right now it’s kind of like choosing between the reefs at Knight and the east bar of Garden.  From one day to the next we’re just not quite sure which area will produce better action.

The consensus?  Let’s have some shacks at Knight and have some at Garden.  On any given day this past week the two areas seem to be about equal.

Our sauger bite remains quite consistent.  Good action on these bottom feeders and plenty of fresh fish for the skillet.

Walleyes on the other hand have been a bit more mystic.  Some days we “get ‘em”, and some days it’s been “so so”.  What I am here from the great folks that visit:  The walleyes we do catch are really quality fish.  So that’s a bonus.

Not much on the perch radar to date.  That may or may not come later as we gain momentum toward the month of March.

In the meantime it’s focus on the sauger and walleye.  Let’s have some fish to eat, and maybe see a limit to take home.  That’s been about the norm for the past week to ten days.

Overall I would have to say that the attitude in camp is that we have some good fishing to share with our visitors.
